Han Becca/ Chewsolo

I created this a while ago for the Weird Stuffie Swap on Craftster. My partner had put down Han Solo and Chewbecca among many other options that she would like for me to craft. I had and still am on a Star Wars kick lately, so I knew I just had to do an adorable combination of the two. I decided what would be better than Han Solo and Chewbecca getting into an intergalactic accident that left them both in one body, especially since they are best friends forever.

I developed a pattern for human bodies called a Nugget, which I used for this. I call them nuggets because like a chicken nugget they are cute and compact, I also call babies nuggets because babies are cute, tiny, compact people. This is the second person I have created using the nugget pattern, the first was Jimmy "the Rev" Sullivan from Avenged Sevenfold for my friends for Christmas.

Anyway back to Han Becca/Chewsolo, which I couldn't decide what to call him because I love both names

I wanted to make him as close to Han Solo and Chewbecca as possible, including belt and belt buckle, gun belt, and I wanted to give him Chewbecca's nose. I didn't want him to be straight down the middle so I varied how much each side was which and I think it turned out better than I could have hoped.

Side shot including the red stripe on the pants

Back

Han Becca was really fun to make and I really didn't want to give him up.

I love the way he turned out and he was really fun to make and I hope you like him too.

Craftster Challenge

I created this for the Craftster.org Toys, Dolls, and Playthings: Fantasy Challenge. We had a little over two weeks to create and upload pictures of our submission. The only problem was the moderator is/was having internet problems, so the voting has never happened and it has been almost a month since the challenge ended, Oh Well. I'm really not too worried about it because you don't win much, but bragging rights.

My Entry Read As Follow:

I am proud to introduce Flint Lockwood's latest and greatest invention.

Flint Lockwood Super Fast Food Botany

As some of you may have seen in the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Flint Lockwood is an inventor and until recently most of his inventions have gone haywire including the FLDSMDFR (Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator) which was featured in Cloudy.

His new invention combines the best of the FLDSMDFR and new technology to fix the problems that were caused by the FLDSMDFR, which included mutating food that will attack if you tried to turn off the Food Replicator.

Flint's new invention the Flint Lockwood Super Fast Food Botany or FLSFFB is a plant that produces fully cooked food in under 24 hours. The plant featured today is the Cheeseburger Plant. It was created by combining the DNA of a cheeseburger and a sunflower plant.

I had wanted to create food plants before and this fantasy challenge gave me the chance. It actually stands on its own! It is made with a combination of felt and fleece and it is all handsewn. I really enjoyed making it and I have a few more in the works so keep a look out.

Close Up

Look at Steve (Flint's talking monkey sidekick) he's trying to steal the cheeseburger

I did not make Steve, I received him during the Craft My Favorite Character Swap, but I thought he should be in the Photo Shoot too knowing that he would in fact try and steal the cheeseburger.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

First Blog and First Post

I have been wanting to start my own blog for a while now, but due to school and lack of subjects to talk about I never did. Now that I have graduated college and started my first job I have more time to be creative and that is what this blog is, a creative outlet. I am a crafter and an artist, I did not go to school for art, but I have taken as many classes as I could to learn new techniques and develop my ideas. Currently, I am a soft sculpture artist aka. I make stuffies or plushies ;) , usually out of a combination of felt and fleece. I am also working on opening my own Etsy shop to sell my creations as many people in the past have urged me to do. I am also dabbling into mixed media, specifically assemblage. So with this blog I would love to show my current work to the public, get feedback, and ideas. I love creating custom plushies and will post some of the ones I have done in the past. I will also post tutorials mostly because I love reading blogs with tutorials. I will also include post about fun trips or event that I go to. Basically, this will be a journal and will include my projects, craft swap items, tutorials, and anything else. I am always open to suggestions and feel free to ask me questions. I hope that you enjoy this blog and the future posts to come.
